Dr. Garry Kitay has dedicated his career to providing exceptional comprehensive orthopedic care for a wide range of conditions affecting the upper extremities, from the fingertips to the shoulders. Dr. Kitay's philosophy centers on delivering compassionate, personalized care, using conservative treatment when possible. When surgery is required, Dr. Kitay prioritizes minimally invasive techniques, helping patients experience reduced recovery time and optimal outcomes. These techniques include endoscopic carpal tunnel release, needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren’s contracture and wide awake anesthesia for appropriate patients. Other surgical procedures commonly performed include arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement, and microsurgery. His patient-first approach combines surgical precision with a deep understanding of each patient's unique needs and goals, ensuring each person feels informed and confident throughout their treatment journey.

Dr. Kitay is a graduate of Brandeis University with honors. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Kitay earned his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed the acclaimed residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, and further refined his skills during a prestigious fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Hand Surgery, Upper Extremity Reconstruction, and Microsurgery at the renowned Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center. Dr. Kitay is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand with a Certificate of Added Qualification in hand surgery.

A Jacksonville resident since 1996, Dr. Kitay has deep roots in the community. Together with his wife, he has raised three children in the area and remains committed to serving the people of Northeast Florida. Dr. Kitay is the Hand Surgeon to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and has helped many of the players return to the field and the game they love. His passion for helping others extends beyond his medical practice, as he actively participates in community health initiatives and educational programs. He has also been an innovator, creating a device used to aid hand surgical procedures that is utilized throughout the country.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kitay has been recognized for his contributions to orthopedic medicine. He is the recipient of numerous honors and accolades. This includes the Zimmer Annual Travel Award and the Orthopedic Research Society New Investigator Recognition Award. He has also served as President of the Northeast Florida Orthopedic Society. Dr. Kitay has published multiple medical articles. Topics include arthritis, tendon injury, shoulder and fracture care.

Dr. Kitay's approach to medicine is deeply personal. He understands that each patient has unique needs and concerns, and he takes the time to listen, explain, and collaborate on treatment plans that align with individual goals and lifestyles. When not caring for patients, Dr. Kitay enjoys time with family, water sports, reading, and fitness.
