A torn meniscus and worn out knee when you’re only in your 40’s is not the typical knee replacement patient. Fortunately for my husband he found the BEST Dr. to LISTEN and hear his issues and concerns. After several appointments with others and no relief. I found Dr.Bell who listened, made a game plan and for exceeded my hopes. My husband was up walking the day of the surgery and with physical therapy he was back to doing the physical activities he enjoys within 2 months. My experience with Dr Bell was outstanding. He replaced both of my knees. First left then the right. I am 69 years old and my knees feel 25 years younger. I had Dr Bell replace my right hip. He was very professional, an extremely competent surgeon, who made the experience as easy as possible. I could tell that I was better, with less pain in the hip in the actual replacement device. There was a certain amount of pain that was made tolerable by meditation.

Left hip replacement

I’m quite knowledgeable about joint replacements. From 2009 to 2014 I had both knees and my right hip replaced. All three surgeries were performed by a doctor at another large orthopedic specialist group here in Jacksonville. At the time, all previous surgeries were successful. It wasn’t until the onset of chronic pain, now in my left hip, which was accompanied by persistent pain in my back, I knew it was time to seek help.

Enough about the past, let’s talk about Dr. Phillip Bell and the staff at Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute. The standard of care from Dr. Bell was beyond superior to any I had previously received. From my first experience with the JOI staff to my first consultation with Dr. Bell, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Bell took the time, with the help of his computer and my x-rays, explained the procedure that he was going to perform. During that first appointment, he also revealed to me he detected that during the right hip replacement that the surgeon had lengthen my right leg by almost three centimeters (3 cm). In detail, he described how he was going to not only replace my left hip joint, but also to the best of his ability to lengthen my left leg to the same length as the right. He felt that the lengthening of my right leg was the reason for the constant pain in my back. HE WAS RIGHT!

Hours after my surgery, the physical therapist, at Baptist South, got me standing and taking a few steps. Though I still experienced pain I could tell a big difference in my pain level. Within three weeks post op I was off all pain meds and released to drive my car. My recovery was amazingly rapid. Not only had Dr. Bell replace my left hip joint he had lengthen my left leg during the surgery too. The pain in my back had disappeared.

The JOI team is a well oiled machine. I am grateful for their patience and promptly returning all my calls pre and post op surgery. I urge anyone needing joint replacement to select Dr. Phillip Bell. I give Dr. Bell, the highest of recommendations. Dr. Bell has truly given me my life back.

It took me a long time to admit that I needed the surgery as I was raised, keep moving and get through it, it's a part of aging. What I can say is once I met Dr. Bell and he showed me X-rays and gave me information about what I needed and what he could do, all while speaking TO me and then allowing me to ask questions so I could research before I made my decision is why I wanted to write this review. I took his advice, I did the pre & post suggested workouts and now have a brand new hip, no pain, more movement and amazed at what GOOD medical service can accomplish these days! Dr. Bell and his staff are caring, knowledgeable, and respectful. I would recommend his talents to anyone.

Dr Frykberg is a talented, caring,and competent physician. I am over age 70, and have just resumed running 14 months after successful hip resurfacing with a Birmingham implant. No limp, when preoperatively I was unable to walk without marked limp & pain. He knows how to get the best result for specific patient conditions, fully informing patients and answering questions. I was fortunate to see Dr Frykberg last week for a concern about pain in My knee. I'd had a replacement out of state 9 years ago and was fearful I needed a revision. After a thorough exam Dr Frykberg designed a three step plan to relieve the pain, assured me the problem was not with the device and actually complimented the placement by my previous Doctor. Besides his competence and professionalism, this doctor shows compassion and empathy to a degree that I've never encountered from a surgeon.

He is one in a million! He really cares about his patients! He is very interested in patient post operative progress and encourages the exercise regime is followed by his patients for optimal results. I have and will continue to refer him to those who could benefit from his care.

Dr. Frykburg is a GOD GIFTED doctor. I talked with one of his patient before calling and making an appointment with him. I also saw the results of his work he had done for that patient. I also went online and checked out his educational background and how much experience he had. I was very impressed from the very first visit I had with him. I especially liked the idea of attending the pre-surgical class and meeting all of the people that was also scheduled. He did a complete knee replacement.

Reverse shoulder replacement

Dr. Steinberg is my hero. Have been in pain for a long time. He made sure that diagnosing my problem was done accurately and was matriculate in making prosthesis for shoulder replacement. He explained everything and made absolutely sure I understood what was going to happen. My surgery and recovery went very smoothly due to his precision treatment. I have not ever had orthopedic surgery that went this great. I would recommend him to anyone who needs surgery done. His staff is very professional and courteous. Thank you Dr.Steinberg and staff.

CARING DOCTOR HIGHLY PROFIENT IN WHAT HE DOES

I was so happy about Dr. Steinburg seeing me. He does have a wonderful PA that works along side him BUT you see him.Dr. Steinberg was so patient and caring. He did a thorough examination and had me have a MRI. He explained in detail what surgical procedure I needed. The surgery was a wonderful success. He ensured that I go to rehab so I could get full use of my left arm again. His instructions were followed to the letter at JOI ReHab on San Jose, Blvd. Blinda, my Physical Therapist was fantastic. After my Rehab I am at 98% and will be at 100% soon. I sleep through the night and wake, up feeling wonderful. Dr. Steinberg is the Doctor you need to see for shoulder and hand repair. He knows what he is doing and he cover’s all the bases to ensure that the problem your having is fixed. I really don’t think he knows how important he is to the lives of folks like me who have had bad experiences with medical and dealing with pain. He has a wonderful caring staff too.

Great doctor and great results

Dr Steinberg and staff are just amazing. This is my second shoulder he has worked on and 5 weeks out of surgery I am pain free and my mobility is great. I am still healing, and everyone is different, but Dr. Steinberg and team are just wonderful. They ensure you are heard, and any issues concerns are addressed before you leave. Dr Steinberg is kind and looks at all options of how to help and get me back to where you were before the pain. If you need help with your shoulder, elbows of hands Dr Steinberg is the doctor you need to see.

Excellent Surgeon

Dr Steinberg is an excellent surgeon. Three months after a surgery to fix a shoulder tear and bicep tear, I am almost back to normal. The rehab team is also great.

Right Elbow

Very knowledgeable Doctor. He fixed a major problem with my elbow. It was a mess and I have zero pain after my procedure. He’s a 10 out of 10 !

Dr. Bruce Steinburg

Dr. Steinburg did the first surgery on my hand in 2004. Since that time he has performed 8 additional surgeries on me with the last one being performed in December 2024. I have never had any problems with any of the surgeries. I have had 2 shoulders replaced, a joint fused, cyst removed and others. I could not have asked for better care from a physician or his staff. Rotator cuff repair

Dr. Steinberg performed my rotator cuff repair. He and his office staff were very helpful throughout the process explaining what to expect throughout the process. Best of all the surgery was a success and I am pain free!

Simply the best!

Dr. Steinberg has treated and operated on me for two torn rotator cuffs, two torn labrum’s, trigger finger, carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve issues.
